Passage 7

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

This, precisely, is what you must do. You may even keep snakes near you, but you must not take such wicked people to yourselves.

Many programmes are going on here. Yet nowhere have I asked anyone for a single naya paisa. You know: never to this day have I entered into the matter of money. But for devotees today, money itself is God. For money they eat grass. How can those who stoop to such wickedness be devotees? I told you before: we are taking in children who have no mother or father, depositing a lakh of rupees in the bank in each one's name, and trying to bring them up to prosper. But today some people go about claiming that they themselves are raising all these children, and collect donations. They say they are collecting donations for Swami. Is there any deceit against Swami greater than this? Such people are traitors to God. I do not accept the collecting of money in Swami's name. You may even go begging for alms, but you must not use My name for money.

Wishing to serve Swami, he did not want to take a job outside. He enquired carefully into what Swami likes, what is needed and what task must be done, and has gone on working accordingly. Now he himself looks after the hospital in Bangalore. This morning he came to Me: “In these times, who gives free education and free medical care as Swami gives them? Nowhere does He take any money at all. This is possible for no one but Swami. Swami taught us learning and good sense, looked after us and brought us on this far; in gratitude to Him we want to do some service,” he said. He had drawn up a plan to have a school built wherever there is no school, in whatever village, and he brought it.
