In plain words
You must practise them, teach them and spread them. Merely to preach and teach, without living it in practice, brings no gain. Truly, man is most fortunate. Human birth is very sacred. “Of all creatures, a human birth is hard to win,” it has been said. Mānava means one who is sacred. Why do you make such a sacred birth unholy? It is not enough just to speak of sacred things with the mouth; you must step forward to put them into practice.
Embodiments of Prema! When bad qualities raise their heads in you, you must spurn them and strive to go along the sacred path. You must give people of bad qualities a namaskāra and tell them to go far away. Tyāgarāja once: “Rāma! A namaskāra to those who trust in You. A namaskāra also to those who revile You,” he said. He bowed to the virtuous and the wicked, to both alike. “There is justice in bowing to the good, but why bow to the wicked as well?” you may wonder. Why bow to the good? So that they never move far from us. Then why bow to the wicked? “May we never come into contact with you. Please go far away from us”: with this feeling you must bow to them. We must bow to the wicked and send them far away. We must bow to the good and offer up our life for their sake. We must join good company, nourish good qualities, walk the right path and make this birth fruitful.
Demonic faith
Devakī Devī was married to Vasudeva. Her brother Kaṃsa seated the two of them in a chariot and was taking them along, driving the chariot himself. At that moment: “Kaṃsa! From your sister's eighth pregnancy will be born the one who kills you,” a voice from the sky warned.
