Passage 6

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Of all living creatures, only man has such a holy chance. From time out of mind, the people of Bhārata have been holding up such an ideal. It is precisely because you do not follow such an ideal that you fall into unrest.

Whatever God gives, you must receive it gladly. Whatever God gives is for your own good! A small example: a large ulcer has grown in your stomach. To take out that ulcer, the doctor cuts your stomach open with a knife. Just because he cuts your stomach open, does that mean he hates you? No, no. It is for your own good that the doctor does that work. In the same way, God too may send you some hardships for your own good. Whatever God does is for your good! Joy and sorrow are both the prasāda of His grace. No one understands what He gives and why.

Work done in unity brings joy

Embodiments of Prema! Live in unity with everyone. Through unity every undertaking succeeds. Yesterday morning you sang bhajans. How tuneful those bhajans were! How sweet they were! How much joy they gave! Why was that? Everyone sang them in unity. Yesterday the boy named Praśānt, the poet's son, Ravi Kumār.... all of them sang in unity, keeping śruti, laya and tāla. The boy who played the flute set the śruti beautifully. All of these together, how much joy they gave! They carried us away. Such unity and such joy are not found anywhere else in the world. Outside, there is a great commotion in the name of Śivarātri. Even if you go to the temples, nothing but noise! Nowhere else is the Śivarātri festival kept as peacefully as it is in Prasanthi Nilayam. Here every programme goes off peacefully. Everything is full of Prema. All work done in unity is steeped in Prema. Prema is God; God is Prema. So you must attain divinity through Prema.
