Passage 8

In plain words

Students! Devotees! Since you have entered this holy place, make your heart holy. Only when your heart is holy can you do holy work. Only when the vessel is clean is the food put in it clean. Better a clean earthen pot than a golden pot holding poison. Your heart is like a golden pot. Keep it clean, and fill it with sweet Prema.

Students! All of you are growing up in Sai's institution. Sai expects nothing of you. Whatever you need, I give it free. Have you seen such schools and colleges anywhere in the world today? Have you heard of any? Today, before a baby is even born, people make an ‘advance booking’ for a place in a school! For a place in the First Standard they pay out thousands of rupees as a donation. But in our Prasanthi Nilayam there is no ‘advance booking’ for anything. What we want is that you hold up the right ideal. Wherever you go, you must make the learning you have received bear fruit. You must try to pass on your learning to others. Prema is your property. That same is my property. So the more you grow your Prema, the larger the property of which I shall be the owner. I need nothing. Live lovingly; that is all.

Take Praśānti with you

Truly, every programme held in Prasanthi Nilayam is very peaceful. When so many thousands gather in this place, is there the slightest sound? Does anyone sneeze? No one sneezes. Does anyone cough? No one coughs. Even a baby does not cry. Such holiness and such calm Prasanthi Nilayam gives. If you do not find Praśānti in such a Prasanthi Nilayam, where else can you find it? Prasanthi Nilayam is an ideal for all. Outwardly, in morals, in matters of Dharma and spiritually, Prasanthi Nilayam stands first in all of them. So you must carry Praśānti away with you from this Prasanthi Nilayam. Today some, calling themselves devotees, stray onto the wrong path.
