Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

You pursue many studies. You travel to many countries. But you make no effort to recognise even a little the value of Prema. When you taste Prema, the whole world appears to you as one family. Satya and Dharma arise from Prema itself. “Speak Satya, practise Dharma.” Prema alone is its basis. Plunge into the flood of Prema. Become absorbed in Prema. There is no learning greater than Prema. You read many books. But what is the result that has come from them? Many children hold a book in the hand, but the head is full of mud. Just because they keep adding to this mud, they turn out not as human beings but as madmen. First of all, fill your heads with Prema. Eat Prema. Merely eating it is of no use. You must digest it. Only then will the essence of Prema travel through every nerve of yours and grant you strength and Jñāna.

Students! Today they speak of Education, but it leads only to Agitation. You must eat Prema and digest it. That alone is true education. You are all made of nothing but Prema! Embodiments of Prema indeed! You may not see the Prema in you, but I, for my part, see it. Prema is brimming over in you. You do not recognise that principle of Prema and act on it. In days to come, the principle of Rāma will be spread far and wide. The Rāmāyaṇa will fill your lives.

Students! I wonder whether I have troubled you by speaking for so long! But this is no trouble to you at all. Nowhere else will you find a principle of Prema greater than this. Day by day I will give you more and more Prema. I have no other work than that. My one work is to fill you with Prema.
