Passage 1

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

In the supremely holy land of Bhārata, forbearance itself is our beauty; shining with lustre among all the vows, the noble practice of Satya itself is the hardest tapas; should one ask which feeling is sweetest in our land, what is more worthy of honour than the feeling for a mother? That held honour alone greater than life, our country's code they have burnt to ashes, and, searching out the codes of other lands, they have handed us today, in haste, the naked blade called a strange freedom. Ah! What shall I say of the rule of Bhārata? Just as the elephant does not know its own strength, so have our people of Bhārata become today.

Young men, embodiments of Prema! You have joined this organisation and demonstrated a fine ideal; whatever joy one gives you, it is not enough. If there are even one or two organisations like this, it is enough: it is possible to restore the sacred, ancient culture of Bhārata. By carrying out sacred programmes of service, your hearts too have become sacred. The ancient culture can be enshrined once more in the hearts of the people of Bhārata who carry out such sacred service in village after village and street after street.
