In plain words
The teachings of Vedānta have been teaching this sacred basic principle all along. But today, unfortunately, teachers are not giving the right teachings. The listeners have no proper interest. Where there is in-trust, there alone do we gain interest. Today it is in-rest; we need in-trust. That alone is what we need; in-rest means he stays an idler. This is not our way. We must join good company. Tell me your company, I shall tell you what you are.
In good company, non-attachment; in non-attachment, freedom from delusion; in freedom from delusion, the unmoving principle; in the unmoving principle, liberation in this life.
Good company. What is good company? They called it good to think deeply on Divinity, without holding on at all to anything that concerns the objects of the senses. Every good work is God work, they said. How? Good. Enquire well: what is this whole world? It is nothing.
Birth again, death again, lying again in a mother's womb; this worldly life is hard indeed to cross; by Your grace carry me across, protect me, O Murāri! (Worship Govinda…)
Being born, dying, being born, dying: this is nothing. Coming and going, coming and going! That is why they gave it the name ‘jagat’. Ja-gat. Coming and going. There is only coming and going. There is nothing in it. All this is a mere zero. So minus one zero. Take one zero away from Good, and it has become God. As long as the world is there, it is Good; when you set the world at some distance, it becomes God. You need not give up the world. Look after your family; carry out your duty; do your office work! But look on all of it with the feeling that it is offered to God.
