In plain words
Every person born in Bhārata has indeed won great fame! To be called ‘a Bhāratīya’ is in itself a great cause for pride. Bhārata is far greater than all other countries. No country has the good name that Bhārata has. How holy must a man of Bhārata be, born in so sacred a country! He must be a cause for pride. He must stand as an example to all countries. But today the people of Bhārata are falling behind, for some reason, in the fields of morality, of Dharma and of the spirit. Instead of winning fame, they are falling into disrepute.
Embodiments of Prema! Even if you cannot win any fame in particular, at least keep the fame there is. It is enough if you keep up the name of the people of Bhārata. Wherever you go, you must proclaim with pride, ‘I am a Bhāratīya.’ Men of Bhārata with such love of country are nowhere to be seen today. Many go to foreign countries and forget the motherland. One who forgets the motherland can be called nothing but ungrateful. You know how much disgrace a son brings on himself when he forgets his mother. The motherland is worthy of worship for everyone. To uphold the culture of the motherland we must labour as hard as it takes.
Bhārata is the mainstay of the Vedas, the home ground of yajñas, yāgas and sacred rites, the great mother who bore many Avatāras, a land of sacrifice that shows the ways of morality and discipline.
Why are you not working today for the progress of such a Bhārata? You set about describing foreign lands as great, but you do not recognise the greatness of the homeland at all. Bhārata is the root of all the Dharmas. The culture of Bhārata took these two, ‘Speak Satya, practise Dharma’, as its chief ideal, as its foundation. That is why it won a great fame that does not wane or scatter through all three times.
