Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

But God has no special shape. Wherever you look, there He is. All whom you see are embodiments of God! Conduct yourselves with that faith. That itself is true Bhakti. Regard every person your eye sees, from the child to the old man, as an embodiment of God. Then your Bhakti will stay steady, with no wavering at all. If instead you hold on to attachment to the body and keep changing every moment, everything will be confusion for you. So put attachment to the body far away and draw attachment to God close. You must give up the illusions of the world. You must choose the Prema of God. Only then will attachment to the body wane in you little by little, and true, steady Bhakti take root.

Hold oneness firmly in your mind and pray to Divinity

What is the reason that Bhakti is not steady in you today? You do not fix your attention on a single form and a single name. You must keep a single form and a single name in your heart. When you perform the lakṣārcana, however many names you say, “Keśavāya namaḥ, Mādhavāya namaḥ, Nārāyaṇāya namaḥ....”, it is only One you worship, is it not! Recognizing this oneness and holding it steady in your mind, you must pray to Divinity. Wherever you look, what is there is God alone! “Have no doubt that He is here and not there.....” So when we hold the one God firmly in our mind, wherever we look, there He appears. Recognize this oneness. Try to see oneness alone. Try to merge in oneness. To recognize Divinity, the one Satya alone is enough for us. That very Satya has a name. That name has a form. Take it as your support, and follow it. Only then will it reveal itself to you. Do not hold illusions about name and form. Such illusions are the very reason the young people of today are fickle-minded! Believe that Divinity is one. “Ekaṃ sat viprāḥ bahudhā vadanti.” Satya is one and one alone. Take that One alone as your support. Wherever you go and wherever you look, that itself will reveal itself to you.
