In plain words
Like a shadow they stay with Me constantly and look after Me. My property is children like these. “Swami! How much property do You have, and where is it?” many people ask. “My dear! It is not possible to say My property is this much or that much. My children are My property,” I tell them. However much one describes the principle of Prema in them, it is never enough. No one can put a value on it. I cannot be without property of this kind. And how could they, for their part, be apart from a Swami who looks after them with so much Prema? They cannot leave Me, nor can I leave them. Through service our children are showing the world a great ideal. What brings great worth to the educated? Service itself! No one can fathom the principle of Prema in our children; no one can understand how large their hearts are; to look at, they seem like little children. Yet each one of them has double postgraduate degrees. Children like these can help the world beyond measure. They themselves serve Me in every way.
“Hearing, singing, remembering Viṣṇu, serving His feet, salutation, worship, service, friendship, the offering of the self”: in these nine paths they express to the full the Prema they have for Swami. Giving up even sleep and food, they serve Swami with great care. Only because of the service they did could I come down today without strain. Otherwise, in this condition, would it be so easy for Me to come down? Their Prema itself brought Me here. Along with their education they have great refinement.
Whether here, in Puttaparthi or in the primary school, the service the children do cannot be described as this kind or that. Even the littlest children conduct themselves with great care. Today I have stood here to tell you of the good qualities of our children; I have not stood up for a discourse of My own. Hoping and blessing that the children who have newly joined will, just like these children, become virtuous, healthy, joyful at heart and free of Ahaṅkāra, and serve everyone, I bring My talk to a close.
