Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Only then will it be possible for us to attain God.

With the power of Prema we can conquer any trouble

Embodiments of Prema! Nowhere in this world is there anything that surpasses the Prema of God. You are all, truly, born of Prema! You live by Prema itself. Through Prema itself you must make your life worthwhile. You must hold Prema itself as foremost. You must desire nothing other than Prema. There is nothing else at all in the world that surpasses Prema. Gold, silver, diamonds and cat's-eyes: all these plunge man into delusion. Paying no heed to these at all, we must keep our gaze fixed on God and go on living our daily life. Only then will our name of human beings be made good.

If humanness is to be fulfilled, we must go on without taking any account of the worries, hardships and sorrows that come along the way. We who receive the grace of God can achieve anything. God can remove in an instant the petty troubles that come to us. With such divine power right here with us, why do we hanker after petty powers? Truly, our Prema itself is the power of God. If we develop such power of Prema, we can achieve anything; we can conquer even troubles like mountains in a single moment. So we must be afraid of nothing. We must fear sin alone. Fear of sin, love of God, morality in society... We must develop all three of these.

But today we are giving in to sin. We do not love God at all. This is great cowardice. To God alone we must yield. Only when love of God grows does fear of sin arise. So we must long for God alone. We must be ready at all times to be offered to God. Tyāgarāja too said, “Swami! I am afraid of sin, but I do not yield to Your Prema. I must yield to Your Prema.” In all this time that we have been born and have grown up, what have we achieved? One who thinks of God must push sin aside. We must win the good fortune called love of God. No good fortune greater than that is to be had anywhere else. However many troubles come, we must take no account of them at all. Pushing them aside, we must strive for God.
