In plain words
True personality
Embodiments of Prema! You have all come for love of God, not for love of sin. We must be afraid of sin. We must not give in to hardships. We must not submit to sorrow. When we step into the current of a river, the waves keep coming hard against us. Only when we push aside the waves that come against us can we move on ahead. In the same way, if we want to go forward in life, we must push aside the hardships and sorrow that stand in our way. Everyone, from the little child to the grown man, must develop Prema. This is what is called ‘personality’. People usually use the word ‘personality’ with the body's frame, height, bulk... in view. This is a great mistake. To strive for Ānanda with courage and daring, not giving in to hardship and loss, is the true ‘personality’. God has granted this kind of ‘personality’ to all. But we are forgetting it.
That very mighty power, full of divinity, our ancestors called ‘persona’. This ‘persona’ is a boon that God has granted to every human being. But we are unable to keep it safe. Tangles, troubles, difficulties: all these come and go like passing clouds. With the divinity that is eternal Satya set within ourselves, why should we take fright at these ‘passing clouds’? We must not give the least room to cowardice. We must overcome them with courage.
Embodiments of Prema! You are suffering a great deal over this body. The body is like a bubble of water. The mind is like a mad monkey. We must not take this ‘mad monkey’ into account at all. We must not be the least afraid of these ‘passing clouds’. All things keep coming. They keep going. We must believe firmly in the divine principle of the Ātma. All these fears come only to those who do not believe in divinity. So believe in divinity completely. That itself protects you in every way! There is nothing God's will cannot accomplish. When such a God is in your home, at your side and by you as your companion, why should you be afraid?
