Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

The mind is very fickle, and very powerful. It yields to nothing but Prema. By Prema alone does the mind come under our control.

The Prema of the Lord of all dispels every worry

Students! Pour out your Prema for God alone. There are many in the world who have poured out their Prema for the sake of studies. But were they able to attain God at all? No, no. Recognise the Satya that only when you contemplate God with Prema and a one-pointed mind can you attain God, and act on it. You may pursue any number of studies; you may read any number of śāstras. But recognise the Satya that God is attained by the one śāstra of Prema alone, and by no other śāstra. God yields very easily to Prema. So attain God through Prema. Everything in this world is nothing but worry!

Being born itself is a worry, living on the earth is a worry, family life is a worry, death is a worry, the whole of childhood is a worry, old age is a worry, living is a worry, ruin is a worry, all actions are a worry, hardships are a worry, joy is a worry, a strange worry. Bhakti for Sai, which drives away every worry, take it up now at least, O people, to your heart's content; what more than this can I make known to you, O members of this assembly, counted among the good and the virtuous!

Once you have won the Prema of the Lord of all, every worry is dispelled. Learn the worldly subjects; there is nothing wrong in that. But pour out your life to attain God's Prema, which is everlasting, Satya and eternal. Many great ones have travelled all over the world and have gone on lifting the world up greatly through their teachings. If such great men had not been there at all, what fate would our land of Bhārata have met! So you must follow the great ones.
