In plain words
Hearing, singing, remembering Viṣṇu, serving His feet, worship, salutation, service, friendship, and the offering of oneself.
Through śravaṇa, manana and nididhyāsa man must make his life worthwhile. The children of today are tremendously clever. Only when they put their cleverness to good use will they have made their lives worthwhile. Spirituality alone is the right way to make life worthwhile. But students lead their cleverness down the wrong road and waste their time in argument and counter-argument. Students! Education does not mean merely an acquaintance with books. You go through many hardships for the sake of education; you read a few books of one kind or another and pass your examinations. But all of these are merely negative kinds of education. We need positive education. Many good qualities are in us, such as Prema, compassion, forbearance and sympathy. We must nourish them through the right practices. Many great ones followed a path such as this and were redeemed.
The mind yields to nothing but Prema
God's grace comes to Prema alone; it does not come by any other path. The conviction must grow in students that the path of Prema alone is the royal road to winning God's grace. By Prema alone can we conquer the mind. By Prema alone can we bring Prakṛti under our control. By Prema alone does spiritual sādhana bear fruit. The inexhaustible wealth, the inexhaustible strength that is in man, is Prema alone. However many you share it with, Prema only keeps on growing. It is not a worldly Prema; it is a Prema bound up with the Highest. Just as we love our parents, we must go on loving God. We must regard our fellow men as our brothers and sisters and love them. Through such Prema alone can we turn the world into one family. If we want to make this whole world one, it cannot be done by any path but the path of Prema. To change a man's mind, you must change it by Prema alone.
