In plain words
Embodiments of Prema! Has anyone ever taken a bat with its legs down and its head up, and made it hang upside down from the branches of trees? No, no. That is its own nature. Karma has no legs, karma has no eyes, karma has no mouth. Just such is the karma that man undergoes. That is why the ancients have always said, ‘Each one's karma is his own.’ This karma does not go when you tell it to go, and does not come when you tell it to come. It goes as it pleases. In keeping with each one's own resolves, this karma plays games of every kind. The world is full of strange and wonderful things. The world is made of the five elements. It does not stand because someone set it in place. In the same way, the human body too is made of the five elements. This body of the five elements ‘must fall, one day or another.’ But the indweller is free of every ill. The indweller does not move.
Man's duty is precisely to obey God's command
Embodiments of Prema! The līlās of God are strange and wonderful. What is not, appears. What appears, vanishes. Who can trust a world so full of strange and wonderful things! Who can keep this body of the five elements standing! It stands for as long as it stands. In an instant it is gone. It does not go by man's command. At the time it came, its fate was written. Man cannot decide the creation of the world. To each one come experiences of a different kind. Bats rest with their heads down and their legs up. Why? There is no reason for it at all. Who is witness to such wonders of creation? Whatever acts are to be done, at whatever time, in whatever place, by whoever, in whatever way, they cannot but happen in just that way. This is not something man has built for himself. Everything happens only in keeping with God's command.
