In plain words
The three qualities a person must above all have
Today some people take self-interest as their basis and preach the good of others. This is a great mistake. First of all, you must give up self-interest. Taking the sacred Prema within as your basis, you must carry out your duties with an eye to the good of others. You must have faith in God. God alone is the support of this whole world. Without that support, what it supports does not exist at all. Here they have decorated this hall with many bulbs. The current that lights all these bulbs is one and the same, isn't it? Likewise, though forms and names differ, divinity is one. But you fix your gaze only on forms and names and overlook the divinity hidden within them.
There are three qualities every person must above all have: steadiness, purity and freedom from attachment. One who has all three is equal to God. One judges a person's good and bad by his conduct alone. So there is no need to ask others whether we are good or bad. The Ātma within us is itself our Sākṣī. If we are to become good, we must think of God without a break. In every age, Avatāras of God come to establish Dharma. But the principle of God hidden within all the Avatāras is one. ‘Daivaṃ mānuṣarūpeṇa.’ When God incarnates in human form, He acts just like a man. What for? Only when He moves about as a man do people understand well what humanness is.
We founded the educational institutions for the very purpose of teaching the knowledge of the Ātma
Where has life come from? Who gave it? By what means did you gain it? God alone gives life and sustains it! Man imagines many forms and names for divinity. That is a great mistake. It is only a delusion. God is one. ‘He is there, God is there!’ Make that faith firm.
