Passage 4

In plain words

You worship God, you sing bhajans to Him, you sing His praise. But you think that God is somewhere, in some place apart. The five elements that fill everything are themselves the forms of the Paramātma. Your heart itself is the temple of God. So fill your heart with Prema. One without Prema is not a human being at all. God is in every individual, as the Ātma. From sugar we make many sweets, don't we? In the same way, the one Ātma takes on many forms. ‘I am One; let Me become many.’ All forms and names arise from the Ātma itself. The sameness present in all beings is itself the Ātma principle. All beings are merged in the Ātma itself.

The religions all differ, the path is one; the kinds of cloth differ, the stuff is one; the ornaments differ, the gold is one; the colours of the cattle differ, the milk is one; living creatures differ, the jīva is one; the castes all differ, birth is one; the schools of philosophy differ, God is one; the colours of the flowers differ, the worship is one. Not knowing this, men lose their wits and for the sake of a living are bound in many sorrows. What more than this shall I make known, O members of this assembly, noble and esteemed for your virtues!

Instead of seeing unity in diversity, man divides unity into diversity. That is precisely why he falls prey to so many sorrows. The Ātma itself is the foundation of the whole of creation. The oneness of the five elements is itself the Ātma principle. Whatever else we may forget, the Ātma we must not forget. The whole world comes forth from the Ātma itself. If we understand just the one Ātma principle, we will understand everything.
