Passage 1

In plain words

For the past three days you have been living in great joy. The three days have passed like three moments. Your hearts are full of Bhakti and śraddhā, and of joy. That is a great joy.

Out of Parameṣṭhi emerged sṛṣṭi. Out of sṛṣṭi took shape samaṣṭi. Within samaṣṭi, the individual is a part. So to serve society selflessly is the duty of every individual. Only a gathering of such individuals is a true society. All of man's actions must have service to society alone as their aim. All are members of one and the same society. Individuals may differ, but the heart that dwells in all is one. “Ekaṃ sat viprāḥ bahudhā vadanti”, “Ekātmā sarva bhūtāntarātmā”.

Keep away from bad company

This is a piece of paper. If you wrap vegetables in it, this paper takes on the smell of vegetables; if you wrap bananas, it takes on the smell of bananas; if you wrap dried fish, it takes on the smell of dried fish. By nature the paper has no smell of any kind. Whatever you wrap in it, it gives off that smell. In the same way, man is pure by nature. But by joining bad company he takes on bad qualities. ‘Tell me your company, I shall tell you what you are.’ Tell who your friends are, and one can tell what kind of person you are. For that very reason you must enter good company. Good and bad take shape in you only through the influence of the company you keep. So keep away from bad company. Make friends with those who have a pure heart and spotless thoughts.
