In plain words
The sweetness that is in Prema is in nothing else.
Students! Every day the scholars will tell you many good things. You must gather them together and take them into your hearts. Your learning must not be limited only to the lessons the teachers give in class. That is ‘artificial’ learning. You must learn ‘heartificial’ learning. For us the ‘heart’ is what matters most. Through the talks the scholars give over these ten days you will gain much wisdom and holiness. Of the nine paths of Bhakti, listening is the first. So we must listen to good words. If anyone speaks words to you that you do not like, leave that place at once. Bad words you must let go on the wind. You must take in only good things. They alone will stay in you for ever. And good things are the things of God! They alone are true, eternal and holy. Receive such true and eternal words, and shape your life into an ideal one. The words God speaks are very sweet, full of nectar. Such words of God you must never let go. You may let go even of the body, but you must not let go of God’s words. ‘This frail body of the five elements: no one knows when it will be left behind.’ The body must be given up someday! So you must not make the body the main thing. We must not live merely to feed the stomach. For peace of mind and for the Ānanda of the Ātma, we must join good company such as this. Not only join it: we must also take into our hearts the good things the elders teach.
