Passage 2

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

So, Embodiments of Prema! We must not keep any distinction whatever. In the heart of everyone the one Ātma alone is shining. Dress and language may differ. Though the forms differ and the names differ, the principle of the Ātma in all is one: only one who recognises this truth and lives by it is a true son of Bhārata. All the differences are of people’s own making! Merely to tell them apart, people give each form a name of its own. Divinity has no form at all. That very thing has been called the ‘Ātma’. We must make it our support. That is what we must love. That is the true quality of being human. That itself is Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema, Ahiṃsā. Where there is Prema, right there is Śānti. Right there is Satya. Satya is one. It is not two. If we keep to that path of Satya, no danger and no hardship of any kind will befall us.

To love everyone is true Bhakti

Every human being must love his fellow men as brothers and as sisters. This is true Bhakti. In worldly life we must carry out our duty. In the spiritual life we must hold the same Prema for all. If you meet an enemy, do not turn your face away. Greet him: ‘Hello brother, how are you?’ Then he too will greet you: ‘How are you, brother?’
