In plain words

Embodiments of the divine Ātma! I do not speak about any one state or any one region. For Me there is no such distinction. The one land of Bhārata alone is what matters to Me.

In the supremely holy land of Bhārata forbearance is our very beauty; of all the vows, the one that has shone out, the noble keeping of Satya, is the hardest tapas; ask what feeling is sweetest in our land: what is worthier of honour than the feeling for a mother? The code that holds honour greater than life itself, our country’s code, they have burnt to ashes, and, seeking out the codes of other lands, have handed today, in haste, the drawn sword of a strange freedom. Alas! What shall I say of the rule of Bhārata? As the elephant did not know its own strength, so have our people of Bhārata become today.

All the people of Bhārata must come together and shape Bhārata into a prosperous land. That is possible through Prema alone. The principle of the Ātma, and it alone, makes all one.

The religions are all different, the path is one; garments differ, the material is one; ornaments differ, the gold is one; the colours of the cattle differ, the milk is one; the species of living beings differ, the jīva is one; the castes are all different, birth is one; the philosophies differ, God is one; the kinds of flowers differ, the worship is one. Unable to understand this, men have lost their wits and, for the sake of a livelihood, have bound themselves in many bonds. What more than this can I make known?! O members of this assembly, esteemed among the good and virtuous!
