In plain words
In this way, from that day to this, I have kept on helping the poor. Protecting the poor, looking after them, giving them food and drink, giving them joy …. This is my duty. Even today I send our students to village after village, street after street, and have them give food. If anyone came to the door hungry, I would stop eating, bring what was on my plate and give it to them. To those who came because they had no clothes to wear, I would take off the shirt I had on and give it. In this way I kept on helping everyone a great deal. From that day, ‘Help ever, hurt never’ has been my aim. So, from childhood, I have had much experience in helping others. Many say one should help, but do not do it themselves.
One in mind, one in word, one in deed: so are the great; one thing in mind, another in word, another in deed: so are the wicked.
From that day to this I have been protecting all, nourishing them, giving them good counsel and leading them on the path of welfare. I have done no harm of any kind to anyone. I have shown neither hatred nor anger towards anyone. But out of jealousy that I am rising, some are making up all kinds of stories about me, writing to the newspaper people and having them spread false propaganda of all kinds. Whatever anyone may do, I fear nothing. I always … Satya … Satya … Satya …. I hold fast to Satya alone. The very name of this body is Satya. I never leave Satya and take another road. I will come forward to teach a lesson to those who spread false propaganda out of hatred. From now on, one must take fitting action so that they do not stoop to such false propaganda. They are stooping to false propaganda out of some greed for money. They must try to recognise the wrong they are doing.
