In plain words

You must understand what akhaṇḍa bhajan means. There are two kinds of bhajan: one is khaṇḍa bhajan, the second is akhaṇḍa bhajan. Holding a bhajan now and then as the moment comes, thinking of God as soon as you get up at daybreak, singing for a little while at bhajan time... This is only khaṇḍa bhajan. As it is said, “Always, at all times, in every place, the thought of Hari”: to think of God not only in the morning and evening but in all three states, waking, dream and deep sleep, that is akhaṇḍa bhajan. You look at a clock: in it the seconds hand is long. Shorter than that is the minute hand, and shorter than both of these is the hour hand. When the seconds hand has passed sixty marks, the minute hand moves on by one mark. When the minute hand has gone round sixty marks, the hour hand moves on by one mark. Now, which of these is the main one? The hour hand! We take no account of the seconds hand. In just the same way, doing nāmasmaraṇa only in the morning and evening, doing some bhajan for a little while ... this, like the seconds hand, is of no great importance. Akhaṇḍa bhajan is what matters most. In each Name there is a power of its own. If we are to put that divine power to good use, if we want to hold on to it for ever, we must do akhaṇḍa bhajan.

The glory of Rāma's Name

Once Nārada went to Śrī Mahāviṣṇu and asked Him to make known to him the glory of Rāma's Name. Nārāyaṇa: “Nārada! Even now you do not know the glory of Rāma's Name! Well then, ask the parrot over there, up in that tree,” He said.
