Passage 6

In plain words

The feeling of sister and brother will soon come in everyone. You call one another ‘brother’ and ‘sister’; you greet one another, ‘hello, hello’. But what use is it if inside you are ‘hollow’! You must greet one another lovingly, with a smile; you must not laugh loudly. To laugh loudly, ‘ahhahhahha’, is as good as making a racket. You should laugh ‘sweetly’, ‘softly’.

You are all very fortunate. I have told you the meaning of the gold coins Bābā gave Lakṣmībāī. Lakṣmībāī kept these two ‘coins’ with her for a long time. “These are the coins Bābā gave. These are coins of gold, coins of diamond. Satya and Dharma: these are the two. There is nothing greater than these. I want nothing but these”: so she felt. Many tried to pull these ‘coins’ away from her. But she gave them to no one. One day her daughter came: “Mother! Give me those two coins”, she asked. But Lakṣmībāī did not agree. “These must go back to the one who gave them; they may not come into anyone else's keeping; I have no right to give them. They came from Bābā, the embodiment of Satya. They will go back to Him alone”, she said. At last, one day, she took out both and placed them in Bābā's hand. “What You gave, I am giving to You! My children have no right to them, nor has anyone else. I have no tie with anyone”, she said. Children by being born; husband and wife by tying the knot. If the knot is not tied, there is no wife, no husband. If those two are not there, there is no son, no daughter. No one has any tie with anyone. Each to his own bank of the Yamunā! So:

“Worship Govinda, worship Govinda, worship Govinda, O deluded mind! When the appointed hour has come near, no, no, ‘ḍukṛñ karaṇe’ will not save you.”
