Passage 2

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

So our sorrow is removed by way of hardships themselves.

There are crores of living beings in the world. All of these come forth from the one Ātma itself. In all beings dwells one God alone. People give different names, Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Allah, Jesus, but there is only one. That is the Ātma. The true name of this Ātma is Prema. Where there is Prema alone, it removes pains however many they are. For one who has Prema, hardship does not arise. All of you have come this long way from America. Because of what? You came because of the Prema you have for me. If we have that one Prema, everything comes under our sway.

God has no particular name; people call Him ‘Ātma’. What does Ātma mean? Nothing but Prema. That Prema alone unites all. Only when you are in unity does purity come. Only when purity comes does divinity, the principle of the Ātma, arise in you. So, for divinity, unity is needed first of all. I and you are one. God and you are one.

Hold firmly to the feeling ‘I am God’!

God is not somewhere apart, away from you. The feeling “I am God” must arise in you. Everyone says ‘I, I …’. This very ‘I’ is the oneness that is in all. The Ānanda in that oneness is beyond measure. Prema itself is God; we must live in Prema. We must learn this very thing today. All are God's own children! As a mother loves her children, God loves everyone. Hatred for one, liking for another … God has no such differences. God troubles no one, hurts no one. God is not apart from you; where you are, there He is; He does not move aside, leaving you, even for a moment. In fact there is no place at all where God is not. Wherever you look, God alone is there! You are all none other than embodiments of God! We have just two eyes. Yet they can see so many people, can they not!
