In plain words
Everything is the fruit of our own resolves!
The words we speak go and mix with the wind. What is gained by speaking such words? We must speak words filled with Prema, words that reach the heart. Only when all our resolves are filled with Satya does our life turn into one filled with Prema. We must make our life full of Prema and end it in Prema too. If someone scolds you, let him scold. What he says goes off on the wind. Think, “He is not scolding me; he is scolding himself.” Whatever we do, we are doing it to ourselves. The harm or the benefit, the good or the bad that comes to us: every bit of it is the fruit of our own resolves. So we must love each and every one. If you cannot love, keep quiet, but you must not revile anyone. We have no right at all to criticise anyone. What is in everyone is Prema alone. Does Prema criticise Prema? No, no! Never will it criticise. Prema loves all. Even a beast loves its young. Even a bird loves its young. Should not man, endowed with so many good qualities, love his fellow man? If we would earn the Prema of God, we must love all. It is through Satya that Prema is won. When Satya and Prema come together, Śānti is won. It is through Śānti that Ahiṃsā comes about. That is why we must hold Satya and Prema as what matters most. Whatever tapas, japa, yajña or yāga you perform, all of it must be done with Prema.
Not love of the body: the Prema of the heart is what matters for us
It is God who is born to you as a son and born as a daughter; it is He who is with you as a brother. It is God who is your kin in every way. The true kinsman who comes to our aid in every danger is God alone! That is why God is called “the kinsman in times of danger”. The bond we have with God is not a bond of the body. Love that belongs to the body changes from moment to moment.
