Passage 2

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

But God is not somewhere apart. God is in you, with you, above you, below you, behind you. What does forming a relationship with such a God mean? It is not a physical relationship. You must feel that you and God are one. You must develop the faith, ‘God is right within me.’

Question 2: What are the signs of spiritual transformation?

Do I believe in God with all my heart? Or am I living by some worldly outlook? Thus you must put yourself to the test. You must come to the full conviction, “In hardship and in happiness alike, I live with an even mind.” Now and then signs of certain kinds bearing on this may be seen by you, physically and in dreams, or they may be heard. Beyond this, the transformation that takes place spiritually has no special marks at all. Is Bhakti growing in you? Is it waning? This you yourself must recognise. You must rest on your own faith alone.

Question 3: What qualities should teachers have in the Sai system of education? How should a teacher conduct himself? How should he have the students keep discipline?

Teachers must keep students in check with modesty and with respectful words. They must not let them do as they please, thinking, ‘These are my students, after all.’ Even while giving them a measure of freedom, they must keep applying the ‘brake’ now and then. When it is needed, they must punish. This punishment must serve as a warning. The teacher must stay at the level of a teacher and keep the student at the level of a student, provide in the classroom such facilities as suit everyone, and conduct himself with care in a way that keeps everyone happy.
