Passage 1

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Though he studies every branch of learning and grows very clever, the dull-witted one does not know himself in his mind; however much he studies, whatever way he lives, the base man cannot give up his bad qualities; studying and studying again brings only argument and debate; full Jñāna he can never attain. Why study every branch of learning, only to die! One must learn the learning that knows no death.

Studies that are not put into practice are of no use, however many one pursues. However many titles he wins, however many degrees he takes, the one who does not put into practice what he has studied is a small man, not an educated one. If you ask who the ignorant are today, the great ignoramuses are precisely those who have studied much and do not put it into practice. And the children too follow these very people and walk in their footsteps.

(Below we print the answers Bhagavān graciously gave to the doubts the delegates voiced at that day's session.)

Question 1: How should students form a relationship with God?

God is not outside, apart from you; He is right within you. You must have Prema for the God who is within you. If God were in some one place apart, you could form ties of kinship with Him.
