Today's studies serve only to earn money and to keep a family; they do not give true wisdom. Even the money they earn, they misuse. Parents today are sending small children abroad. There they spend lakhs on needless things. In the end they come back from there ruined, the children.
Before sending a student to America, his parents took him to a temple of the Devī. “Dear son! Never forget this ‘Divine Mother’, who is the mother of all. Keep thinking of this Mother of the world without a break,” they told him, and took a ‘promise’ from him to that effect. But after setting foot in America he forgot even his own ‘mother’. Some years later, when he came back to Bhārata, his parents took him straight from the aerodrome to the Devī's temple. As soon as he entered the sanctum, instead of bowing to the ‘Divine Mother’, he said, ‘How are you, Madam?’ The parents' anger knew no bounds. “We spent so much money and sent you to America, and you do not even think of God! Is this what you went there and learnt!” they said, and scolded him sharply.
The good fortune that is in Bhārata is not to be had in any other country
Of those who go abroad and come back, many return having learnt evil notions, wicked plans and bad intentions. So from now on no one must send their children abroad. However much one searches abroad, the good fortune that is in our Bhārata is not to be found there.
