In plain words
'It must fit,' they insist. To those it does not fit, they give no other shirt — and so being without any shirt at all becomes their fate. Bharatiya doctrines are not like that. Suited to each person's own temperament, they established forms and names to match, and provided opportunities to worship in conformity with each devotee's own conception of the divine form. Though such supports are unnecessary for some, many have chosen this very kind of support. After all, Bharatiya paramartha does not compulsorily teach that idol-worship alone must be practised. But there is one point everyone must keep in mind: Bharatiyas may cling to their own bodies and seek to uphold their own way of life, but they would never so much as think of slitting another's throat. A Bharatiya fanatical for his own faith will offer his own body to the flames and die, but he will not, in turn, set fire outright to the living bodies of those who do not accept his religion.
Condemning suicide is Bharatiya paramartha, because the Bharatiya religion is the very religion that believes the Ātma alone is Paramātma. Just as various races, women and men, journey through life in various ways subject to various conditions, so too the task of every religion is to help material man in his development, and ultimately make the Godhood or divinity within him shine forth — that alone. Though Bharatiya paramartha may seem outwardly contradictory, all its paths are, in reality, not contradictory at all. One must understand that it is the one single truth alone, and that the apparent contradictions arise only as it conforms itself to the different temperaments and different circumstances of those who hold it. For example: it is one and the same light that shines through glass pieces of different colours. For the sake of that conformity, these slight differences are indeed necessary — but as the source, the basis, the goal, the key, and the centre of everything, it is the one single truth alone that shines. Just as the thread within a pearl necklace runs through every pearl, so too Paramātma exists in every religion as the thread that binds them all together.
