In plain words
In the sight of such people Vidyā and Avidyā are the same. As harmful as Avidyā is, Vidyā is just as harmful. Because he knows the secrets of both well, such a man crosses death relying on Avidyā (karma) [the sense is: ‘through karma done as an offering to Īśvara he removes the impurity of the inner instrument, becomes pure within (purity of citta) and is fit for Ātmajñāna’], and attains immortality relying on Vidyā (Ātmajñāna).
