In plain words
This quickening power does not come from books. Man receives it from one mind's principle to another. Though we may be absorbed in reading books all our life, we may gain the greatest ripeness of Buddhi. But in the end not a trace of ‘spiritual growth’ will have come to us. It is untrue that a man who has attained ripeness of Buddhi will also have gained spiritual ripeness. There is no link between learning (mere book knowledge) and saṃskāra. However much worldly learning one has, without saṃskāra such studies are rubbish. True Vidyā is what teaches saṃskāra well and builds it in.
