In plain words
Indian culture is the highest because its root is the Veda
That the culture of the ancient Indians is the highest of all is a truth accepted not only by Indians but by the people of all countries. The reason it has won such renown is that this culture is rooted in the Veda. “The whole Veda is the root of Dharma.” All the duties needed for man to live, without giving up his humanness, in a way higher than all other beings are named by the word ‘Dharma’. The Veda is the treasury of all such duties. The teaching the guru gave his disciples in the gurukula after teaching them Vidyā is such as no other country and no other disciples could have imagined. “Let the mother be your God”, “Let the father be your God”, “Let the teacher be your God”, “Speak the truth”, “Walk in Dharma”, “Not the others”: that is, walk in Dharma, speak the truth, do only deeds that have meaning, give up whatever is contrary to this. Do only those deeds that are good for us. This is the command, this is the teaching, these are the Vedas and Upaniṣads. The gurus were those who said, three times, may there be Śānti, Śānti, Śānti.
