In plain words

8. Vidyā must show the divinity in oneness

Selfless service is the heart of Vidyā

Desireless karma is yoga. It wipes out the animal natures in man and turns them into divine natures. Service to man done with ‘the feeling of the Ātma’ helps one's own growth; on the spiritual path it keeps a man from looking back. Service is higher than vratas, pūjās and the like. Service destroys the Ahaṅkāra in you, opens the heart and makes it blossom. Build the mansion of your life on the highest of ideals, selfless service. Through the ideal of selfless service alone will the other ideals and virtues take root in you. Service opens the heart wide. It makes your consciousness blossom. It brings depth of the Ātma.
