In plain words

Self-confidence is the chief Vidyā

You must not be satisfied with ‘hearing’ alone. What you have heard you must at once ‘reflect on’. What you have reflected on you must ‘contemplate’. Only then can “Satya” enter the heart. The principle can enter the blood vessels, take form and flourish. Today hearing has turned into a disease. People hear a lecture and think that with that they know everything. Instead, the longing to cross over must be intense. Man's longing for the principle must turn into ‘yoga’. Yoga means: Dharma joined with God, that becomes yoga. The more lust, anger and the rest grow in a jīva, the more the divinity in him wanes. That is, his self-confidence keeps declining. Self-confidence is the chief Vidyā. The more anger and the rest are destroyed, the more self-confidence and the spiritual grow strong in him. Vairāgya is the foundation of the sādhana for Brahmajñāna. If the foundation is not firm, that is, not secure, even the smallest building soon falls down.
