Passage 3

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

To string flowers, to make a garland, there must be a needle, a thread and flowers, must there not! In the same way, to have ‘Jñāna’, for ‘Vidyā’ to come, there must be the needle called ‘Vairāgya’, the thread called ‘Bhakti’ and the flowers called ‘one-pointedness of citta’. Everyone in the world wants only victory; no one wants defeat. He hopes only for prosperity, he does not hope for poverty. But how do victory and prosperity come? One must think about that and inquire. We need not go searching for it.
