Passage 2

In plain words

Just as trees do not eat their own fruit but offer it to others in a spirit of sacrifice; just as rivers, wishing others well, do not drink their own water but cool the burning of others; just as cows share out their milk to others for their good, though it came for their own young; in the same way, only when the educated man gives the learning he has gained to others with a mind set on their good, in sacrifice of self, and does his service for the sake of others, does a man make the name ‘good man’ true of himself.
