Listen, sirs, to the teaching, listen; and having listened, walk on the path of Satya, sirs. From the time you wake until you go to sleep, you wrestle for property, sirs; for the sake of the rupee, in secret, you eat whatever grass comes your way, sirs; for money, meditations on God, bōnālu offerings: you hatch many schemes, sirs; as the earth goes round the sun, people go round and round money, sirs; crying "Liṅga, Liṅga!", you worship the liṅga and practise false sādhanas, sirs; for selfish ends, craving fame and honour, you do wicked deeds, sirs; on the day wealth comes you leap about like frogs; on the day wealth goes you sink down, sirs; you chase after greatness and end in ruin; give up your show and your pomp, sirs; always see the Lord of all equally in all beings, sirs.
