Such the sway of Western learning: Sanskrit sank to the bottom and dwindled away; such the sway of Western learning: the Dharma of marriage came to nothing; such the sway of Western learning: all the noble Dharmas were snuffed out; such the sway of Western learning: the craze for foreign dress and speech grew; to speak the mother tongue came to seem wrong; fear arose of keeping the decencies of society; the teaching of what is called Dharma was lost; this is what the people of Bhārat have become today.
