The age is short and the scriptures are many· Verses 10–11

10Cultured one, in this age of Kali people are for the most part short of life, slow, dull in understanding, poor in fortune, and harassed on every side. 11The scriptures are many and the rites they prescribe are many, and each must be heard section by section. So, good sir, draw out with your discernment what is the essence here, and tell it to us who have faith, that by which the self is brought to peace.
