34As he was about to lead the enemy to the camp, tied by force with a rope, the Bhagavan whose eyes are lotuses spoke to Arjuna in anger. 35Son of Prtha, you must not save this one. Kill this disgrace to the brahmanas, who killed sleeping boys who had done no wrong, at night. 36One who knows dharma does not kill an enemy who is drunk, or off his guard, or out of his mind, or asleep, a child, a woman, a simpleton, one who has come for refuge, one without a chariot, or one who is afraid. 37For a shameless scoundrel who feeds his own life on the lives of others, his killing is a good even for him, since by that fault a man goes downward.
38And you yourself promised the Pancala princess, while I listened: proud lady, I shall bring you the head of the man who killed your sons. 39So let this wicked man be killed, this assassin, who murdered his own kinsmen and did his master no pleasure either, hero, this defiler of his line. 40Urged in this way by Krsna, who was testing his sense of duty, the son of Prtha, great-souled, did not wish to kill his teacher's son, though that man had killed his own.
