Lord of the senses, as Devaki was shut away a long while by the wicked Kamsa and stricken with grief, so was I set free, and my sons with me, mighty one, by you my protector, again and again out of a crowd of dangers. From poison, from the great fire, from the eater of men, from the assembly of the wicked, from the hardship of living in the forest, in battle after battle from the weapons of many great chariot-fighters, and from Drona's son's weapon: by you, Hari, we have been guarded. Let those dangers come again and again, teacher of the world, wherever they come, since through them there is the sight of you, and that sight is the not seeing birth again.

A man swelling with the pride of birth, of lordship, of learning and of beauty is not fit even to name you, whose range is those who have nothing. Salutation to you, the wealth of those who have nothing, whose working among the strands has ceased, who take your pleasure in the self, who are peace, lord of the aloneness: salutation.
