7That hero, while still in his mother's womb, joy of the Bhrgus, saw a certain person then, as he was being burned by the heat of the weapon: 8of a thumb's measure, spotless, with a glittering crown of gold, lovely to look at, dark, with a garment like lightning, the Unfallen. 9with the marks of Sri upon him, long-bodied and four-armed, with earrings of tried gold, his eyes reddened, a mace in his hand, ranging about the child on every side like a meteor, whirling the mace again and again; 10and beating away the heat of the weapon with his own mace, as the lord of cattle beats away mist. And the child, at close quarters, looked at him and asked: who is this?
11Having beaten it away, that Bhagavan of measureless self, the mighty guardian of dharma, vanished there and then, while the child of ten months looked on.
