The brahmanas said: son of Prtha, he will be a cherisher of his people, as Iksvaku son of Manu was; devoted to the brahmanas and true to his word, as Rama son of Dasaratha was. He will be a giver and a refuge, as Sibi of Usinara was; a spreader of the fame of his own, as Dausyanti was among the sacrificers. He will be foremost among bowmen, equal to the two Arjunas; hard to withstand as fire, hard to cross as the sea. Bold as the lord of beasts, to be resorted to as the Himalaya is; forbearing as the earth, enduring as one's own parents. Equal to the grandfather in evenness, like the lord of the mountain in graciousness; a resort of all beings, as the god who is Fortune's own resort is.

In the greatness of every good quality he will be one who follows after Krsna; generous as Rantideva, righteous as Yayati. In steadiness equal to Bali; in his hold upon Krsna, firm as Prahlada was; a performer of horse sacrifices, one who waits upon the aged. He will be a begetter of royal sages and a chastiser of those who go by wrong roads; he will hold down Kali for the sake of the earth and of dharma.
