Kali, though he had entered here on every side, could not prevail so long as the great lord of the earth, the son of Abhimanyu, was sole king. On the very day, in the very hour, that the Bhagavan left the earth, that Kali in whom wrongdoing has its rise came in after him here. The emperor bore Kali no hatred, taking the pith of the thing as a bee takes it; for in that age good things done come quickly to their fruit, and the rest do not. What is Kali, after all, brave against children and afraid of the steady, who moves among careless men like a wolf and is himself never careless?
