12When they were seated at their ease he bowed again, and standing before them with his hands folded and his mind made clear, he told them what he meant to do. 13We are the most fortunate of kings, and our ways make us fit for the kindness of the greatest. The line of kings, for its blameable work, is thrown far off from the water that has washed brahmanas' feet. 14For me, whose mind clung again and again to house and home, the Lord of the high and the low has taken the shape of a brahmana's curse, which is the root of turning away; for he quickly puts fear into a man wherever that man clings. 15Brahmanas, and goddess Ganga: take me as one who has come to you with his mind held on the Lord. Let Taksaka, sent by the brahmana, or some conjuror, bite me: it is enough. Only sing the songs of Visnu.
16And again let there be love for the Endless, the Bhagavan, and attachment to the great who take their refuge in him, in whatever birth I come to. Let there be friendship everywhere. Salutation to the twice-born.
