17and let him practise with his mind the pure and supreme threefold syllable of Brahman; with the breath mastered and the seed of Brahman never forgotten, let him hold the mind in. 18With understanding for his charioteer, let him draw the senses back from their objects by the mind; and the mind, dragged this way and that by works, let him hold with his understanding upon what is good. 19There let him meditate upon one limb of him with a thought that does not break off; and having joined the mind to no object at all, let him remember nothing further. That is the supreme station of Visnu, where the mind grows clear. 20The mind of the self, dragged about by passion and darkness and gone astray, let the steady man hold with that holding which kills the stain those two have made.
21While that holding is kept up, the yoga whose mark is devotion quickly comes to the yogin who is looking upon that good refuge.
