34Pralamba, Khara, Dardura, Kesin, Arista, the wrestlers, the elephant, Kamsa, the Yavanas, Kuja, Paundraka and the rest; and others headed by Salva, Kapi, Balvala, Dantavakra, the seven bulls, Sambara, Viduratha and Rukmi; 35and those who shine in the press of battle with their bows taken up, the Kambojas, Matsyas, Kurus, Kekayas, Srnjayas and the rest — all of them will go out of sight into his own abode, through Hari, who goes under the borrowed names of Bala, Partha and Bhima. 36Seeing that in time the understanding of men closes over, that their lives are short, and that his own handed-down word is hard to reach the far side of, he shows himself age by age; and in Satyavati he split the tree of the Veda branch from branch.
37When those who hate the gods stand firm on the road of the handed-down word, and with cities made by Maya that move unseen strike at the worlds, he will take on a guise that bewilders the understanding and pulls hard at greed, and will say much that belongs to a lesser dharma. 38When even in the houses of the good there are no accounts of Hari; when the twice-born are cheats and the kings are low men; when the calls of svaha, svadha and vasat are nowhere heard — then, at the end of the age, the Bhagavan will be the chastiser of Kali. 39At the making, austerity, and I, and the seers, and the nine lords of creatures; at the upholding, dharma and sacrifice and the Manus and the gods and the lords of the earth; at the end, wrongdoing and Hara and those ruled by wrath and the antigods. All these are outgrowths of maya and carry the power of him whose powers are many.
