1Asked by the Ksatta for news that had one he loved for its ground, the man who is the Lord's own could not bring himself to answer: his longing had brought the Lord back into his mind. 2At five years old, when his mother called him to his morning meal, he would not have it: he was busy in the play of a child at doing that one worship. 3How then should he, grown old in that same service over the years, asked for news, be able to answer, remembering his master's feet? 4For a while he was silent, sunk deep by a keen yoga of devotion in the sweetness of Krsna's feet, and altogether at rest. 5The hair rose all over his body; with his eyes half shut he let his tears go. The other saw him then: a man whose purpose was full, flooded by the spreading of his love.
6Slowly he came back from the world of the Bhagavan to the world of men, and wiping his eyes, Uddhava spoke to Vidura with affection and a faint smile.
