That you made this praise of me, dear one, marked all through with the rising up of my story, and that you stand firm in austerity: this itself is my kindness to you. I am pleased with you; may it go well with you. With the wish to win the worlds you praised me, telling me over as though I were made of the strands, who am beyond them. The man who praises me always with this praise and serves me by it, with him I shall soon be well pleased, I who am lord of the boons of every wish. The highest good of men, won by works of public use, by austerity, by sacrifices, by gifts and by the gathering of yoga, is that I am pleased. So those who know what is real hold it.

Ordainer, I am the self of all selves, and I am dearest even among the dear. So let a man set his love on me, for whose sake the body and the rest are dear at all. You who are born of yourself: with this self of yours in which all the Vedas are, bring forth the creatures as before, and those too who lie sleeping within me. Having made this plain in this way to him, the maker of the world, the Lord of the ground and of the Person, he whose navel is a lotus, went out of sight in his own form.
